MJ in the Hall of Fame

Congratulations to the greatest player to ever play the game of basketball (PERIOD!) Michael Jordan truly deserves to be inducted with that honor. I wonder if I’d still be around to witness another MJ. There are those who are trying to surpass his legend, but they are still in MJ’s shadow.

I love what his former teammate John Paxson had to say:

“Simply the greatest to ever play the game of basketball. He is the one player that each young person in this league should emulate and aspire to become. His work ethic, drive, skill level and competitive spirit were unmatched.”

Boston Celtics are NBA Champs

With 5 minutes left and a 36 point lead, the Celtics are bound to win their 17th NBA Championship.

Darn, I was rooting for LA. It should have been Kobe’s time. Winning his first MVP, Kobe should have led his Lakers, but sad to say, this is what separates him from MJ. Kobe hasn’t shown the leadership that MJ had shown in leading his Bulls to 6 NBA Championships. Enough of that.

Congratulations to Pierce, Garnett and Allen. I don’t like them but they’ve show that they are the better team.

I wonder if the series would have been as one sided as this one had my Spurs entered the finals…

I wonder if the series would be the same if Bynum had not been injured.

I really wanted LA to win, but heck, they didn’t play to deserve that championship.

Lakers vs Celtics

I’m no fan of the rivalry since I’m from the Jordan era. But, this year’s NBA finals sure is exciting. It features two hungry teams that made drastic moves to get to where they are now. Garnett and Allen were added to Boston’s roster while LA got Gasol.

I’m a spurs fan, but in this series, I want LA to win for the following reasons:

1) I want Phil Jackson to earn #10 to pass Red Auerbach as the coach with the most number of NBA rings :)

2) I admire Kobe’s change. I hated Kobe last year, but this year, he has rebuilt his image and he shows it on and off the court. He also reminds me a lot of MJ. He’s still far from MJ, but he’s the nearest among all players. Kobe has shown that he can be a good leader as he led the Lakers to the #1 Western Conference Team as they beat Denver, Utah and my San Antonio Spurs.

Go LA!

Manu! You’re the Manu!

At last, Manu has shown up in the Western Conference Finals after dismal performances in games 1 and 2. Making nearly impossible shots, he torched LA with step back 3 pointers and drives to the basket. Vujacic could hardly do anything to stop him as Manu totaled 30 points. I hope he continues to play well so that the Spurs can beat LA and eventually have their first back-to-back NBA Championship.

Go Spurs!

Go Manu!

NBA Playoffs

The season is over and it’s time to determine which team deserves to lift that Larry O’Brien Trophy in June.

I’m rooting for a couple of teams. In order, I’ll go with the Spurs, Lakers and Hornets. I don’t like any team in the East. Hehehe!

For MVP Honors, my vote goes to Kobe Bryant. He deserves it more than anyone else as he had carried his Lakers atop the tight Western Conference. My runner up goes to Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets. His time will come, but not this year.

Best Coach goes to Byron Scott in my books. He has done a great job bringing his New Orleans Hornets at 2nd place. They even held the number 1 spot for quite some time before the Lakers overtook them.

My 6th Man vote goes to Manu Ginobili. He’s the Man!

My prediction: Pistons vs Spurs in the Finals (Spurs winning 4-3) :)

Pau Gasol to the Lakers

I was shocked as I read the headline at Yahoo! Sports, “Spanish Treasure”. Pau will definitely boost LA’s chances of landing the Larry O’Brien Trophy. Imagine their lineup: Fisher, Bryant, Odom, Gasol, Bynum and all I can say is WOW! That lineup definitely beats Boston’s. I bet Bryant is smiling even more. After asking for a trade, Bryant was very content with the way Bynum has evolved into one of the best centers in the league right now and now they have one more piece to the puzzle. I can’t wait to see them play. I hope Bynum recuperates from his knee injury so that we could truly watch LA’s true strength.

DLSU vs UE

After sweeping the regular season 14-0, UE lost game 1 of the finals against DLSU. I expected them to show up with intensity in Game 2 and they did for a couple of minutes that had them leading 8-1. After that, it was all DLSU. DLSU led in double digits until midway in the 3rd when UE caught up, but DLSU kept them at bay answering every UE run. Congrats to DLSU!

ADMU’s season ends

DLSU wins 65-60 and will face UE for the championship. The eagles played well but the archer’s poise kept the opponent at bay. After Ateneo grabbed the lead midway in the second quarter, La Salle bounced back to grab the lead back before the first half ended. Ateneo kept biting and biting but DLSU didn’t cringe thanks to Cholo Villanueva’s efforts.

Marion to the Lakers?

Laker fan here and I sure hope this rumor becomes reality. Marion would be a big boost for the Lakers both offensively and defensively. But to make the deal, Odom will probably go which is fine I guess. I’d take Marion over Odom anytime. Kobe and Marion would be so much like Jordan and Pippen. Hehehe! I think Kobe would embrace the chance to play with Marion and rally for a championship.

Go ADMU!

A few minutes ago, ADMU beats UST 69-64 thanks to the efforts of Silverio Baclao who had a monstrous defensive game. Tiu and Arao provided the points as ADMU fought every rebound, boxing out the big UST players and out hassling UST. Escueta and Salamat, ADMU’s backcourt provided the pressure and energy to outplay their counterparts. La Salle is next who has a twice to beat advantage for being the 2nd seed.
