[Spoilers]
Finally finished reading it last night before going to bed. It was a very touching story about what true love really means i.e. self sacrifice and genuine concern for the one you love. No matter how I wished for John and Savannah to have a happy ending, it just would be right. Savannah is married to Tim despite Tim’s condition. Marriage is only for two people and it was right for John to step back. At the least in the end, they still both treasure what they had in the past. For John, that was what he needed to know as he saw Savannah stare at the full moon on that same night.

Thanks to the brownout, I was able to start reading one of Nicholas Sparks’ novels, Dear John. I more than half way now. I’ll probably finish in the next couple of days.
Again, he truly never fails to make me cry. The story so far has been touching. I can relate to John Tyree and my wife can probably relate to Savannah Lynn Curtis as they also have a long distance romance.
I can’t wait to finish reading this one, but I’ll tend to my other hobbies first

I had finished reading this yesterday. I read this already 3 years ago, but completely forgot what happened so I decided to read it again right after finished The Love Story. It was a delightful read, but the ending didn’t suit me.
SPOILER ALERT!
I think the ending would’ve been better if Marcie Nash decided to provide better working conditions in her factories just like how Oliver’s father did compared to the ruthless early Barretts. Having seen this, Oliver decided to leave Marcie. I guess I’m just such a sucker for happily-ever-after endings. Hehehe!
I like Phil’s character. He’s such a good father-in-law to Oliver especially after Jenny’s death. The relationship they have is quite rare. Actually, I’ve never seen anything like it yet.
Well, I’m off to Erich Segal’s next book: Man, Woman & Child.

I finished reading Love Story yesterday. It was short, but captures the inspiring love between Oliver and Jenny. I couldn’t help but cry as I read the last few pages. I even wished that the book would magically thicken just so that their story would last longer… It was sad, but so moving that I really enjoyed reading it. I admire their relationship so much. I remember Jenny calling Oliver, “Preppie” all the time. It was quite funny too how much Jenny was in command despite Oliver’s saying that he was the man of the house and that he was in charge. I somehow relate to this with my wifey. She’s the boss! Hehehe!
Anyway, I’ll read Oliver’s Story again so that I could remember what happens to him next and how he handles losing Jenny… Finding love a second time will be difficult. I remember Phil saying “I had it once. And who the hell am I to hope that God will give me two of what most people never get at all.” I’ll stop sentimentalizing. I don’t want to cry again.

I finished reading the book last night. Actually, I should have finished reading the book a long time ago but I got busy with my PSP, browser games and other stuff so it got delayed. Anyway, I started halfway yesterday morning and finished it just right before dinner. It was a good read and I just couldn’t stop. I didn’t even touch my PSP yesterday! hehehe!
Anyway, it’s a masterpiece by Nicholas Sparks and it tells about the story of Jeremy and Lexie. Jeremy, is a journalist in New York City who writes about mysteries that he solves. He firmly believes that everything in life has an explanation. Lexie on the other hand is a librarian in a small town in North Carolina. Unlike Jeremy, she’s believes that there are things in life that are unexplainable.
Review (SPOILER ALERT!):
Like most of his novels, Nicholas Sparks does it again by capturing the most important aspects of life. I’ve learned from Jeremy and Lexie that in life, the most important things are those that can’t be found in material possessions but rather in the time we spend with our loved ones. I remember Lexie telling Jeremy that when people near death, they don’t look for their luxurious possession, but rather they want to see the people they love and spend their remaining time with them. Life is never really about being rich, climbing the ladder to success or the like. It’s about spending time with your spouse, children, parents, siblings, relatives and friends. Of course one needs to make a living too, but to concentrate and spend more time on it will make life meaningless.
