Bye Blogger (for now)

In an effort to consolidate all my online activities, I’ve decided to merge my blogger blog into here. I’m planning on merging some of my other seldom used blogs into here as well. Hopefully, with less clutter, I’d find more time to write and share stuff.

Kairosoft Android Games

In the past month, I’ve spent most of my spare time playing Game Dev Story, Grand Prix Story and Pocket League Story. All games are made by Kairosoft. I must say that their games are very fun to play. They have mastered the simulation niche. I hope they release more games soon. I’d want a basketball story someday.

Anyway, the games are pretty simple yet there is a level of sophistication that gets you hooked. You play the owner of the Game development company, or an F1 Team or a Football Team. You start at the bottom and work your way up by training in various skills and increasing your team’s experience. You are given different challenges at different levels until you beat the very best.

More power to Kairosoft!

Simulation Games

I had been looking for games that are easy to pause and resume given my current parental duties. There are very little titles on the Mac compared to the PC as of the moment so my choices are limited. I usually check Steam and Civilization V caught my eye, but it was quite expensive. Steam offered huge discounts every now and then and when they offered 75% OFF on Civ V, I grabbed it immediately. So far, I’m liking it very much. The game reviews are accurate as this game had me spending hours and hours on it. It gets pretty addicting fast.

In this game, you compete against other civilizations. You can choose America, India, Japan, Aztec, Persia, etc. You start in ancient times building your cities, either conquering other cities or having them as allies. There are many aspects to the game. You can start out building a solid military force or you can choose the economic path or other paths. I like having a strong military so that’s what I tried. From ancient times, you go through different eras, classical, medieval, modern, etc. I’m still working on my scenario so I’ll probably give an update on the end game later.

I also tried other games of the same genre. I’ve just finished playing Game Dev Story on my Android and that was one heck of a game. In just two days, I managed to finish it (20 years game time).

In this game, you own a company that develops games. The end goal is to create a game that will wow the critics and the fans and eventually earn the Game of the Year Award. I might give it a second go to beat my high score or I’ll try other games by the same creator. Kudos to them for making such great games for the Android. Here’s a link to their website.

Battleheart for Android

I truly loved playing this game. You are given a variety of classes to use. My personal faves are Wizard and Rogue. All classes have unique abilities that help your destroy your enemies. Currently, there are only 3 maps on the Android version. There’s an update coming and they’re adding 2 new classes, some tweaks and some maps. This game has a lot of potential.

Here are my thoughts:
- 2nd classes (Wizard => Sorcerer; Rogue => Assassin, etc)
- more maps, items, bosses
- more classes or characters (Dragon, Alchemist, etc)

Sky’s the limit!

More power to Mika Mobile for creating this game!
